- Caption
- Detail of the Last Judgment Tympanum (1107-1125) over the west door. Part of a procession of saints and contemporary leaders on the left side of the tympanum, moving towards Christ in the center. Just out of view on the right is St. Peter the Apostle, wearing a chasuble and holding the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven as well as a pastor's staff. Next to him is the bearded hermit Dadon, founder of the first oratory at Conques. Next comes an abbot, who is leading the Emperor Charlemagne by the hand. Following him (in part shadow) are two acolytes carrying a reliquary and diptych, representing the emperor's donations to the abbey.
