- Elgin Marbles: Horse of Selene
- Horse's head from the east pediment of the Parthenon in Athens (438-432 BC). Part of the Elgin Marbles displayed in the British Museum. The horse was part of a group pulling the chariot of the moon goddess Selene. It is shown weary from pulling the moon across the sky all night: its nostrils flare and its mouth hangs open with heavy breathing.
